Even when we look in a mirror, we still get it backwards.

It’s easier to see the strengths and weaknesses of people around us than it is to see our own. We suffer the curse of knowledge. We know too much about ourselves and what we think. We’re too close to the problem, and can’t step back from ourselves to see the bigger picture.

The thought that we can be as neatly defined and categorized as others can is kind of scary. Maybe it’s time to loosen up the boxes you put other people in. Or else get comfortable with the fact that it’s not a box you’ve been put into, but a body.
